The African Congress for Transformation (ACT) says it is willing to collaborate with progressive forces and other political parties that form part of the Progressive Caucus.
ACT national spokesperson Mohau Khumalo said that by aligning with like-minded entities, the party aims to build strong alliances that will enhance its capacity to drive meaningful change in South Africa’s political landscape.
“The party is focused on fostering unity among progressive movements to collectively champion the interests of South Africans and ensure a better, more equitable future for all,” he said.
The ACT recently held its first annual congress from 29th to 31st August, under the leadership of its President Dr. Ace Magashule. The four-day gathering brought together approximately 236 delegates from nine provinces to reflect on the party’s performance in the 2024 national and provincial elections.

The congress also introduced the interim national leadership structure of the ACT, tasked with strengthening the organization and planning its direction moving forward.
At its conclusion, various commissions were tasked with leading the charge on specific areas deemed essential to the growth and success the party, which include Information and Publicity, Fundraising and Finance, and The ACT Constitution.
Khumalo said the congress “was a resounding realization, characterized by a dynamic exchange of ideas and robust discussions on the future direction of the party.
“It served as a crucial platform for debating strategies and policies, reflecting ACT’s commitment to internal democracy and intellectual engagement.”
Furthermore, Magashule emphasized to all delegates, membership and supporters that ACT is prepared to be the alternative political force in South Africa – a beacon of hope and change in the country’s political landscape.
