In keeping up with the current mood and jubilant atmosphere of the Zulu Kingdom, Education MEC Mbali Frazer has requested schools in the KZN province to wear their traditional attire on Tuesday, 30 August.
This move is encouraged as part of the many activities carried out by the Zulu nation to honour His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini after being crowned this past weekend.
“As a way of paying tribute to His Majesty King Misuzulu kaZwelithini, learners and educators are encouraged to wear their traditional attire. Let us show pride in our culture and tradition,” the MEC said.
A circular issued on Wednesday by the Head of Department, Mr. N Ngcobo, confirmed this call by the MEC.
“The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal is joining the province in celebrating and honouring His Majesty the King. This is part of the proud history of our province which will continue to be taught in schools for many generations to come,” he said.
Ngcobo also stated that his Department is committed to work with the King in pursuit of providing quality education for the people of KwaZulu.
