Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya says the Presidency is finalising the powers of the newly appointed Minister in the Presidency for Electricity, Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa.
Addressing a media briefing on Sunday, Magwenya said since his appointment the Minister has been engaging various stakeholders.
“The powers of the Minister are being finalised, they are awaiting the President’s signature subject to any further engagements that the President may deem fit,” Magwenya pointed out.
He added that the Minister will be visiting a number of power stations starting from Monday.
Meanwhile, the State power utility suspended load shedding between 5 am and 4 pm on Sunday. In an updated statement, it said Stage 1 load shedding will be implemented from 5 am until 4 pm on Monday.
Eskom further stated that breakdowns are currently at 15 645MW of generating capacity while 4 942MW of generating capacity is out of service for planned maintenance.
