Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday signed a decree awarding the prestigious Order of Friendship to iconic US actor Steven Seagal.
According to the decree, the award was presented for a significant contribution to the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, an award given to those working to improve Russia’s relations.
Seagal, 70, was granted Russian citizenship in 2016 and has been serving as a special envoy of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs for international relations with the US and Japan since 2018.
Since the peak of his Hollywood career, Seagal has been an outspoken supporter of President Putin, who personally granted the action film star Russian citizenship.
