A Qatari airplane carrying 37 tons of foodstuffs, provided by Qatar Development Fund (QFFD) and Qatar Charity (QC), arrived at Port Sudan Airport on Monday, in the Republic of Sudan.
This assistance comes within the State of Qatar’s support for the fraternal people of Sudan and its full support for their steadfastness in facing the current difficult conditions they live in due to the ongoing military conflict.
Since fighting broke out between rival military forces in mid-April, an exodus of civilians fleeing the violence has spilled over neighbouring borders, while the remaining population has struggled to get access to water, food, healthcare and many other basic services.
Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced the evacuation of 164 persons, holders of Qatari residency, from the Republic of Sudan, bringing the total number of evacuees to 1,784.
Earlier, the State of Qatar had evacuated its citizens, 1,620 persons, who are holders of Qatari residency.
The Ministry has once again reiterated the State of Qatar’s keenness on establishing security and stability in the Republic of Sudan.
