A trilateral naval exercise involving warships and vessels of the Russian Navy, the People’s Liberation Army of China, and the South African National Defence Force ended on Monday, in the Indian Ocean, coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
Participants in the highly combative drills practiced forming a multinational squadron in a designated area, joint tactical manoeuvring in different formations, and mine defence missions during a sea crossing with live-firing at a mock floating mine.
The Russian Federation was represented at the exercise by the frigate Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov and the medium sea tanker Kama of the Northern Fleet.
The Chinese Navy was represented by the frigate Rizhao, the destroyer Huainan and the support vessel Kekexilihu, while the South African Navy was represented by the frigate Mendi.
