Türkiye will join South Africa in the genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), in The Hague, Turkish public broadcaster TRT World reported on Wednesday.
“Upon completion of the legal text of our work, we will submit the declaration of official intervention before the ICJ with the objective of implementing this political decision,” Turkish foreign minister Hakan Fidan said in a joint press conference with his Indonesian counterpart Retno Marsudi, in Ankara.
According to the Turkish public broadcaster, Minister Fidan assured that Türkiye will continue to support the Palestinian people in all circumstances.

Stating that Türkiye’s efforts on its application have been ongoing for “a very long time,” Fidan said Ankara will soon complete its legal work on the case.
“Meanwhile, we will continue to work with all friendly and allied countries on what more can be done on this issue and which countries can further apply,” he added.
In January, the ICJ ordered Israel to refrain from any acts that could fall under the Genocide Convention and to ensure its troops commit no genocidal acts against Palestinians. This, after South Africa accused Israel of state-led genocide in Gaza.
Israel and its Western allies described the allegation as baseless.
