ActionSA says it will not stand by while acting Public Protector Adv Kholeka Gcaleka uses her office to meddle in political games in a bid to shield President Cyril Ramaphosa “and help protect his already severely discredited reputation.”
Gcaleka’s report into her year-long investigation on the Phala Phala saga was made public on Friday.
She found no evidence substantiating claims that Ramaphosa had undertaken paid work while serving as the head of state, nor did he abuse his powers or create conflict between his private interests and that of his role as the executive.
ActionSA has since maintained that Ramaphosa has serious questions to answer for allegedly breaking South African law.
“Despite the Gcaleka’s whitewash report into the Phala Phala farm saga, it remains unclear why the dollars were hidden in a couch, why they were not declared to the revenue service and why a covert operation took place to investigate the crime when a case was never opened,” ActionSA stated.
The party insists that Ramaphosa must be held accountable and believe the courts may ensure that the President does not get away with possibly breaking the law.
