ActionSA on Monday unveiled Dr Nasiphi Moya as its nominee for the position of Deputy Executive Mayor in South Africa’s capital City of Tshwane.
“The first ever Deputy Mayor position in the City of Tshwane’s Executive will ensure that the principles of co-governance are applied while deepening power-sharing to produce stability within the coalition in service of the City and its residents.
“This will stave off a replay of previous government missteps concerning pressing matters like the three-month-long workers strike and the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment saga which put numerous Tshwane residents’ lives in danger,” interim National Chairperson Michael Beaumont said.

The nomination follows a coalition arrangement agreed to by all parties that are signatories to the coalition agreement which guarantees that the Deputy Mayor position be filled by an ActionSA Councillor in consultation with its coalition partners.
Addressing the media, Moya said she is deeply honoured and grateful to have received the nomination of the governing multi-party coalition to serve as Mayor of Tshwane.
“I am humbled by the trust and confidence placed in me by the ActionSA leadership and our coalition partners. Most importantly, I respect the voters of our capital City who have placed their trust in a coalition for our capital City to be a source of pride to all.
“The opportunity to serve the residents of Tshwane is one that I do not take lightly, and I am fully committed to dedicating my time, energy, and expertise to the betterment of our great Capital City,” she said.
Moya comes with some experience in governance and public administration. She holds a PhD in Political Studies from the University of the Western Cape, a master’s degree in public policy and administration, an Honours in Public Administration and a bachelor’s degree in social sciences.
