Iranian Foreign Ministry (FM) Spokesman Nasser Kanaani has reacted to the horrifying murder of a black teacher in the US after he was repeatedly tasered in middle of the street in Los Angeles.
A body camera footage released by LAPD shows the brutal incident happened on 3 January 2023, around 3pm local time.
Keenan Anderson, 31, was trying to get help after a traffic collision when he was chased, held down by multiple officers and tasered for over 90 seconds as he begged for help – according to media reports.
Kanaani said the images of the violent and cruel murder of Mr. Anderson by the US police and the repetition of the horrifying death of George Floyd, “which shows the persistence of discriminatory behavior by the country’s police against black people,” once again shocked the world.
“It’s regrettable that the US regime hypocritically meddles in the internal affairs of other countries to achieve its political goals and sheds crocodile tears but it keeps silent on the extreme violence and discriminatory and abhorring treatment of [black people] and crimes against them by the American police,” he said.
Kanaani further condemned the murder of the young African American teacher and underlined the need for the US government to be held accountable “for this inhumane crime and for its irresponsibility regarding the repetition of gross and systematic violations of human rights in the country, especially against minorities and black people.”
