EThekwini based radio station, Izwi Lomzansi together with community activist Mr. Nkosentsha Shezi, as well as the ANC leadership in Ward 108 and community volunteers embarked on a search campaign for flood Victims in the Umzinyathi Area on Friday.
Umzinyathi is located at Inanda, north of Durban and is one of the places that were hard hit by the recent floods that ravaged the province of KwaZulu.
Safety boots and hand gloves were donated by Izwi Lomzansi management in order to assist the volunteers who participated in the day-long search.
A group of volunteers led by Mr Shezi searched tirelessly seven kilometres of Umzinyathi River. No results yielded in this search. However, the operation will continue in the following days. Members of the public and corporate are urged to make more contributions and take part.
The station manager of Izwi Lomzansi fm Mr. V Xulu believes that this initiative is a necessary part of healing for the bereaved families.
