uMkhonto weSizwe (MK Party) has reiterated its bold stance to challenge the outcome of the 2024 National and Provincial Election after presenting evidence alleging that “the IEC rigged the elections to the detriment of the MK Party and other [political] parties.”
In a statement issued on Friday, the MK Party said throughout the election period, it has stood firm on its commitment to political integrity and expediency, adding: “We cannot stand by while crucial institutions like the IEC are manipulated for political ends.”

The MK Party dismissed what it called mischievous media reports suggesting that it had changed the political stance not to attend Parliament “due to the glaring election rigging by the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), which led to the massive theft of MK party votes.”
“We wish to reiterate that our position remains unchanged, and that we will attend parliament proceedings only based on the outcomes of the court proceedings.
“While we deeply respect the will of the people who elected us to serve in Parliament in order to change the current neo-liberal constitution and ensuring expropriation of land without compensation, among others, we believe that our votes, and therefore the voices of all our voters, are incomplete,” the statement read.
The Jacob Zuma-led party believes that attending the first sitting of Parliament without challenging the vote rigging incidents would betray the country’s democratic values where every voice deserves to be heard.
