The Pan-Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) Secretary General, Apa Pooe, has responded to widespread accusations of the party selling out, as it has taken the controversial decision to form part of the so called Government of National Unity (GNU).
This comes after the remarks made by EFF leader Julius Malema at a Parliamentary Progressive Caucus media briefing on Thursday where he said the PAC and UDM leadership acted as cowards when they left the caucus to join the GNU.
Earlier this week, ATM President Vuyo Zungula had also stated on X that “with the view that the PAC has sold out, the only way PAC can redeem itself is through land expropriation without compensation”.

Pooe likened the accusations to “new-born Christians calling Jesus a sell-out,” implying that those making the claims lack a deep understanding of the PAC’s long-standing principles and objectives.
He emphasized that the PAC has always maintained the positions that its critics, “who were previously in the ANC,” now support.
He reiterated that the PAC’s primary historic objective is to unite Africans and reaffirmed the party’s commitment to some of the ideas that the Progressive Caucus now champions.
Moreover, the Secretary General expressed the PAC’s willingness to engage with the Progressive Caucus, “as there is significant agreement on key issues”.
