The Pan-Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) says the current crisis faced by the country is man-made and it “endangers the continued survival of ordinary folks in Occupied Azania.”
The PAC made the statement on Friday, in retaliation to a section of the public that has been raising “their misguided objections” to the planned national shutdown organized by the EFF on 20 March.
Other political formations that have publicly announced their support for the protest include the African Transformation Movement, South African Federation of Trade Unions, South African Natives Forum, and Inyanda Institute.
“The hullabaloo about the planned national shutdown on Monday 20 March 2023 is a mirror reflection of a people in denial about the cause and effect of a man-made crisis that endangers the continued survival of ordinary folks in Occupied Azania,” the PAC said.
It contends that the grievances of the people are only heard when there are burning tyres or engagements in general lawlessness. Furthermore, the PAC accuses government and State officials of sweeping the “legitimate voices” of the people under the carpet.
“Their fellow travellers in the form of the Democratic Alliance (DA), Action SA and others are showing their hypocrisy by condemning a total shut down for a day. They are sweeping the legitimate voices of the people under the carpet. They are the neo-fascist right wingers.
“The crisis of a truant president who cannot handle governance in his term of office and the downward spiral of economic losses due to lack of electricity are real and present dangers. The right to protest against President Cyril Ramaphosa’s complacency is a legitimate concern,” it stated.
The PAC’s founding pillar is that unity in action is the answer to restore land to its rightful owners as an economic base to redistribute wealth and incomes. It is on this premise that the organization has resolved to take the side of marginalized communities who do not have basic services delivered to them.
