EFF President Julius Malema says the party’s Central Command Team has reiterated the call for President Cyril Ramaphosa to step down, in order for the country to avoid a massive insurrection.
Speaking at a press conference in Johannesburg, on Monday, Malema said they have been informed that in the next two weeks, there is going to be darkness, adding that South Africa is “almost at a point of grid collapse.”
“They are just calling it Stage 10 for nice words. The reality is that it is darkness,” he noted, referring to the different stages of load shedding.
On Sunday, Eskom issued a statement saying it will alternate load shedding between Stages 4 and 6 for the rest of this week. It is expected that Stage 4 will be implemented between 5am and 4pm, followed by Stage 6 between 4pm and 5am every day.
“Our country is collapsing and a grid collapse will lead to the disruption of water supply, disruption of network connectivity, and high levels of crimes and looting.
“Ramaphosa must therefore step down with immediate effect, to avoid massive insurrection, and chaos which will occur when there is total grid collapse,” Malema warned.
Furthermore, the EFF President made it clear that they don’t want a Minister of Electricity, accusing Kgosientsho Ramokgopa of being corrupt and responsible for collapsing the ANC leadership in Tshwane.
“Let Eskom be under one political leadership, and political authority so that they know they have no option but to take this political direction.
“Government needs every little cent that we are wasting on Sputla [Ramokgopa] who is not going to help us with anything,” Malema stressed.
