Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, chief of the Radiation, Chemical and Biological Defense Forces of Russia has warned that the United States of America (US) is forging ahead with the policy of building up its military and biological capabilities.
The General issued the warning at a press briefing on Saturday, ahead of the Ninth Review Conference of the Biological Weapons Convention.
Of particular concern, Kirillov said, are tests controlled by the US Defence Department, of infectious agents and toxic substances on Ukrainian soldiers and the mentally ill persons who are one of the most vulnerable categories of citizens.
“I would like to point out that the US continues to include the objectives of building up its military and biological capabilities in its doctrinal documents,” he highlighted.
Kirillov went on to predict that another attempt by the United States to interfere in the internal affairs of other countries could be seen again.
Furthermore, he made claims that a hybrid version of the coronavirus, which fuses an Omicron version with a virus of the Wuhan strain, was developed by researchers at Boston University in October.
“In October, Boston University developed a chimeric coronavirus based on the Omicron variant and the original ‘Wuhan’ strain. The hybrid virus developed by the Americans killed 80% of the infected lab animals causing atypical neurological symptoms and significant lung injury,” Kirillov revealed.
The Russian official also raised concerns over the investigation of the US biological military programme which failed to be launched at the UN Security Council as the probe into US operations in Ukraine did not gather enough votes.
Since the beginning of the military conflict in Ukraine, Russia alleges that it had discovered the Pentagon was carrying out military biological programs at several locations in Ukraine. The US has vehemently denied such claims.
