Chinese President Xi Jinping says China is ready to expand practical cooperation with Cuba and strengthen coordination on global and regional level.
Xi was speaking on Friday during a meeting in Beijing with his Cuban counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel.
As part of the talks between the two leaders, they highlighted how their country’s relations have become a good example of solidarity and cooperation, and mutually beneficial support between socialist States and developing countries, China Central Television reported.
They stressed the importance of China and Cuba maintaining close communication as well as strengthening exchanges to build a socialist system suited to their respective national conditions.
“China is ready to work with Cuba to build a China-Cuba community with a shared future and will continue to firmly support Cuba in defending national sovereignty and opposing foreign interference and blockade,” President Xi said.
On his part, Diaz-Canel thanked China for providing strong support to Cuba in safeguarding national sovereignty and independence, and also working for economic and social development.
He expressed willingness to deepen cooperation with China in key areas such as trade, finance, fisheries, digital economy, clean energy and infrastructure to better cope with complex situations and severe challenges, and to push bilateral relations to a new high.
