Xiluva has welcomed the renaming of William Nicol Drive to Winnie Mandela Drive, the party said in a statement.
On Tuesday, the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg Cllr Kabelo Gwamanda officially announced the renaming of William Nicol Drive in honouring the legacy of the Mother of the Nation, Winnie Madikizela Mandela.
The street is located in South Africa’s biggest city and wealthiest province in the country.

“This is a fitting tribute to the anti apartheid activist who played a pivotal role in the struggle against the oppressive regime.
“Mama Winnie will always be remembered as a staunch defender of black people’s rights and remained steadfast in her fight against the apartheid government,” the statement read.
Xiluva added that it hopes the renamed road will inspire future generations to continue fighting for social justice and equality in South Africa.
